The immune system is the defence mechanism that fights off any sort of undesirable diseases. Once it is weakened and destroyed, your body becomes prone to every infectious diseases because the white blood cells are not there to fight anymore.

There are quite a few ways one can be safe from HIV even if they had unprotected sex with an infected individual. And there are also a few ways to prevent HIV infections in other perspective or ways with respect to how the HIV can be passed on from one person to another excluding unprotected sex.

Here are ways one can escape HIV and be safe:

1. Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP).

This is a medicine that is taken before having sex with an HIV infected person. It prevents you from getting the virus. It does not matter if you had an unprotected sex or not, it will surely protect you from being infected by Human Immunodeficiency Virus your sex partner has.

Pre-exposure prophylaxis decreases your chances of getting HIV through sex by 99%.

2. Post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP).

Just like the pre-exposure prophylaxis, PEP prevents you from getting or acquiring HIV.

But post-exposure prophylaxis is taken a few minutes after having been infected with the virus either through unprotected sex or any other activity that may have exposed them.

Post-exposure prophylaxis reduces an individual's chances of getting HIV by 98%.

3. Use a thin proper original condom.

The use of condoms that would not break during an intense sex is extremely important if you do not want to be infected with HIV. That is why it is very important to use a proper and original condom. You might want to have a full sexual pleasure; getting a thin condom can help you with that.

Condoms prevent the sexual organs from having a direct contact with each other hence prevent exchange of bodily fluids that can bring about transmission of HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases or infections.

If the condom breaks during sex, quickly take a post-exposure prophylaxis to be on a safer side.

4. Do not ever share needles.

Sharing of needles has brought about the transmission of HIV more than you can think of. People pay more attention to sex as being the main avenue for getting HIV forgetting that sharing of needles is equally as dangerous.

5. Total Abstinence from sex.

Abstinence, according to many people, is the best way to prevent the spread of HIV. But put this at the back of your mind that, abstinence alone does not prevent the spread of HIV; make sure you do not share needles as well and avoid other activities that can equally expose you to HIV just like how unprotected sex does.

NOTE: The main difference between pre-exposure prophylaxis and post-exposure prophylaxis is that one(PrEP) is taken before sex and the other (PEP) is taken after sex.
